As part of an ongoing partnership with Oomph! Wellness, residents in the north east have been given greater access to their local communities, with up to three day trips a month now being taken by residents across the region. Making the most of the dry weather while it lasts, residents from Lansbury Court in Sunderland, paid a recent visit to nearby Seaham Marina, where substantial development has seen the harbour in the former pit village regenerated and includes a range of cafes, restaurants and shops, as well as a heritage centre. The group, comprising Edith, Nancy, Rita, Frances and Olive stretched their legs, walking round the entirety of the site, and stopping off for as photograph of the First World War soldier sculpture, by local artist Ray Lonsdale, affectionately dubbed ‘Tommy’ by locals, and which is a permanent fixture in the town. Resident Olive commented, “We had a lovely day out, the weather was beautiful, and it was nice to see children out paddling.” Activity Coordinator Christine Callaghan said, “Everyone has been really enjoying the trips out, taking in lots of different local attractions. We were really lucky with the weather when we went to Seaham, and everyone really enjoyed the day out. We’re already excited for the next one!” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on Facebook and YouTube
