Lansbury Court Care Home are extremely proud to have our very own Reconnect Community, offering specialist care for people living with dementia in the Sunderland region.
Our Reconnect communities have been thoughtfully designed to support residents who live with dementia in a way that allows them to truly thrive. Our homely environment reflects everything you'd expect to see in your own home, such as a kitchen and laundry rooms, but with the welcome addition of dedicated spaces for people to enjoy hobbies and activities of their choosing, such as a DIY workshop, gardening facilities and an arts and crafts room. Residents are actively encouraged to use the space as they would their own, and with our friendly team by their side, we'll help them to remain independent, engaged and most importantly: happy.
Our team of dementia specialists are trained to the very highest standards of dementia care through our Orchard Academy. Our friendly, expert colleagues will take time to get to know every person, who they are, what is important to them, their values and beliefs, what makes them happy, worried or sad, as well as what brings them joy and how they want to live their life. Working with your loved one and family and friends, we develop a detailed, person-centred care plan.

"The care and support they've given myself and my brother-in-law has been fabulous, more so during recent times as his condition has degraded somewhat and has been challenging to say the least. But, the staff always try to carry on with his care and support for me. P.S. Carers are always positive about their work and raise a 'smile' with other residents, you can see they're always wanting to keep them happy. 'The Carers' Show' was for getting dressed up, singing, and dancing, which included the residents being involved, a good day."

Meet the Manager
Hello, my name is Marlena Derda and I am the Home Manager at Lansbury Court Care Home. I began my career working as a care assistant in 2011 before progressing to a senior care assistant. My passion for medication management and end of life care for residents led me to complete my Level 2 and 3 NVQ.
In 2019 I joined the Orchard family working as a Deputy Manager and completed my NVQ level 5 in Leadership and Management in this time before progressing to Home Manager in 2021. I am overjoyed at the opportunity to manage Lansbury Court and work alongside the wonderful care staff and residents. I am very excited to strive towards making this home the best it can be!
