To acknowledge their hard work and dedication, we have developed a comprehensive Learning & Development programme to support our employees in advancing their careers.

We believe strongly in developing our staff and our people-focused, blended approach to learning involves a range of delivery styles and solutions to meet the learning requirements of our employees, and the different care needs of our residents. 

Blended Approach to Learning

All of our employees complete mandatory training courses on induction. Each course is tailored to the individual, the role and whether they work at one of our Care Homes or in the Support Centre in Harrogate. Many of the mandatory courses are delivered online via an interactive learning platform, these can be accessed anytime on any device and include a wide choice of e-learning modules. 

The courses are further supported by using a range of delivery styles which include practical face-to-face training, workshops, distance learning, workbooks and observations. 

Personal Development

At Orchard Care Homes, we invest in an additional range of clinical and professional development courses, both in-house and externally.  We encourage our staff to undertake awards or RQF qualifications as part of their development within the care sector. These are role-specific, varying from Level 2 to 7 and offered to all staff and may include Adult Care Worker Apprenticeships, Activity Provision Awards, Administration and Food Production & Cookery Diplomas as well as a number of Management qualifications.   

Everyone at Orchard Care Homes has personal development meetings with their line manager, allowing them to keep track of what they are doing well, recognise where they need to develop and help to set short and long term goals in order to reach their full potential.
