Activities in our care homes
We believe meaningful engagement is key, which is why our care homes have dedicated teams of Activity Co-Ordinators to create fun, exciting and entertaining events every week. From themed food weeks to pantomimes and bingo to Halloween parties, there's never a dull moment at Orchard Care Homes!
Our Activity Co-Ordinators get to know your loved ones likes, dislikes and hobbies, and helps them to rediscover lost passions. Residents in our 23 care homes have enjoyed building birdhouses, showcasing their skills in our annual talent shows, participated in cake decorating competitions and much more. We work alongside local businesses to bring fun activities in our homes, including singers, dancers, animal handlers and visits from nearby schools.
Whether your loved one enjoys dancing to their favourite songs or prefers quiet time with a book, our trained team of Activity Co-Ordinators and Support Workers will organise enjoyable events tailored to them. Activities designed for you
Whether your loved one is living at Langfield Care Home in Manchester or Lansbury Court in Sunderland, every single home within the Orchard Care Homes group has a team of dedicated Activity Co-Ordinators on hand. We work with the resident, family members and friends to organise individualised activities. We understand that some residents may prefer their own quiet time, so even if it's just sitting with them and enjoying a catch-up over a cup of tea, we always ensure they're spending their time however they like.
Our Reconnect Communities
Our Reconnect dementia communities are designed to help residents remain independent and live a full life, with the support of our incredible dementia-specialist team. With arts & craft spaces, laundry rooms, gardening equipment and even a DIY workshop, residents living in one of our Reconnect Communities are encouraged to engage in hobbies they've always loved, like painting or sewing. Our aim is to support people living with dementia to reconnect with their past and remain active, whilst our fully-trained carers and nurses assist with daily care requirements.
“We’ve made pottery, candle holders, autumnal wreaths, nature-themed rocks – everything you can think of. It’s not just arts and crafts though; we also do exercise classes, movie mornings, and organise entertainment like singers and animal handlers.”
- Donna Worsley, Activity Co-Ordinator at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge Care Home in Wakefield
