Summer Days Out for Greater Manchester Residents
As part of a varied and dynamic activity programme, residents from Langfield Care Home in Greater Manchester regularly enjoy outings to a range of attractions within their local communities. One recent trip saw residents Bill, Alice and Marjorie visiting Manchester’s Heaton Park, where they enjoyed an energising walk around the park’s extensive grounds, before stopping at the park’s café for a well-deserved refreshment break. Another outing saw residents Mary, Irene, and Ellen make the most of the warmer weather with a visit to Rochdale’s Hollingworth Lake. Covering 130 acres, the lake was originally built as a main water source for the Rochdale canal, but became a tourist resort in the 1960s. It is now a centre for water sports as well as a nature reserve, though members of the group recall fond memories of visiting the lake during its modest beginnings. Activity Coordinator Donna Stevenson commented, “We have had some fantastic weather this summer which means that day trips have been a popular activity for residents to take part in, offering fresh air, exercise and stimulation. “It is really important for residents to feel connected to their communities, and many of them have fond memories of visiting our local parks and lakes, and it is always interesting to hear how they’ve changed.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on Facebook and YouTube.
