Residents from Lansbury Court in Sunderland have been benefiting from new, monthly armchair exercise class within the home. Led by local fitness instructor Simon, the group has been learning how to keep active despite having reduced mobility, through a range of callisthenic movements. One resident commented, “Simon is a wonderful instructor, and it is nice to have a new face round the home. The classes are so much fun, it doesn’t feel like any effort at all, I’m already looking forward to the next one.” Activity Coordinator Christine Callaghan commented, “As we get older our mobility decreases and it is important to find innovative ways to keep active, even when we can’t get out and about as much. “This new range of classes has been very well received by residents, with the exercises being taught in both group and one-to-one settings, offering a chance for socialisation, as well as to get tailored fitness advice from Simon.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on Facebook and YouTube
