Paisley care home gives back to the community

Paisley Lodge care home in Leeds is giving back to the community that supports it by donating food hampers to its local church.

The kind staff at the home have donated enough items for two food hampers and they will be donating them to their local Christ Church, which supports residents with an on-line service every fortnight. The food will be given to those more needy parishioners to help them enjoy the Christmas festivities.

Activities coordinator Elizabeth Garbutt arranged the services and coordinated the collection and donation of items. She said, “It feels nice giving something back to the local community and working together”.

One resident, Maude, kindly donated the hamper basket and helped box things up. Acting Home Manager at Paisley Lodge, Lucy Gradwell, said, “The residents would like to say a special thank you to Christ Church for giving them the hope they needed in trying times. The church service today was a lovely experience for all residents and staff; it was truly touching and moving at the same time. The residents enjoyed the sermon given by the Rev. Phil Arnold followed by a Christmas Carol ‘Away in a Manger’. Some got emotional when we all said the Lord's Prayer, it was very special.”
