Orchard Care Homes are pleased to announce that our Chesterfield care home, Chatsworth Lodge, has received the highest recognition from the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF), showing their commitment to exceptional care for older veterans and their families!

Bruce and Eleanor at Chatsworth Lodge Care Home

As a CQC rated ‘Good’ care home, Zenka and the team at Chatsworth Lodge have welcomed residents from all walks of life; school teachers, housewives, doctors, cleaners…the list is endless! Amongst the residents living at our Chesterfield care home is 92-year-old Clive: a proud war veteran who served his country for several years, including tours in Hong Kong and Germany. Joining the care home in 2021, Clive enjoys reminiscing over his time in the army with his fellow residents and colleagues, and even meets up with Frank, resident and veteran at Riverdale Care Home, to discuss their shared experiences.

Now celebrating his fourth year at Chatsworth, Clive was more than happy to hear that they’ve become VFF accredited and are recognised for their exceptional support to veterans and their families!

Clive and MP Toby Perkins

To celebrate their incredible achievement, the Chatsworth Lodge team welcomed local MP, Toby Perkins, to their home, who spoke with Clive and listened to his emotional stories of serving in the army. After the MP’s visit, residents were surprised with a delicious buffet made by the kitchen team, with finger foods, desserts and tasty drinks aplenty!

In the afternoon, residents enjoyed an iconic performance from Eleanor Mattley, including classic wartime songs everyone loves, and to finish the event, ‘God Save The King’. Chatsworth Lodge were even joined by residents from their sister nursing home, Millfield - making the event extra special and joyful.

Clive, who was front and centre at the performance, became particularly emotional at Eleanor’s rendition of ‘God Save The King’, and was beaming with joy as he watched is friends dance and sway to the music. It was a truly wonderful moment to witness!

Now VFF accredited, Zenka is excited for a fulfilling year at Chatsworth Lodge. “As a veteran-friendly care home, we’re not only supporting people who served in the war, but their families and loved ones, too. This prestigious recognition is just the first step in our plans for providing even more support for veterans in the Chesterfield area, and we can’t wait to help make a positive impact to the local community.”

A huge congratulations to Chatsworth Lodge Care Home for their latest accreditation!
