Mary, Susan and Rita from Lansbury Court in Tyne & Wear spent the day at the sight seeing as they took a trip to South Shields recently. The ladies spent the morning walking around South Marine Park, where they enjoyed the views of the lake and watched the ducks and ducklings, which were friendly enough to get close. Mid-morning, the group stopped at a local café for a cup of tea before heading to the seaside. Susan, Rita and Mary enjoyed the salty air and a brisk walk along South Shields beach, reminiscing with Activity Coordinator Alison Tribe about their memories of walking along the seaside when they were girls. Before the residents headed back to the home, the ladies sat down for lunch, which included fresh fish and chips followed by ice cream. The ladies chatted about the delicious smell of the chips cooking and took a fancy to the café’s spotty china tea pots and mugs. Both ladies commented on what a lovely day they had and are looking forward to their next visit to Sunderland’s Winter Gardens. Alison said “We couldn’t stop chatting all day, the ladies had so many stories to tell us about the places we visited. The trip had lots of sensory elements, the smell and sound of the sea was very relaxing and we had such a nice day just relaxing in each other’s company. The ladies are wonderful.” For more updates on the activities in our homes, follow us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
