Outstanding Contribution Award Win for Chairman

Robbie Burns, Chairman of Orchard Care Homes since 2016, was honoured with Outstanding Contribution by an Individual at the 2017 Health Investor Awards.  In an event hosted by comedian Rory Bremner at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London, Robbie was recognised for over 28 years of work in the health and social care, and applauded by an audience of over 1,200 leading figures from the independent health and social care sector. The category was judged on nominations. Robbie Burns joined Orchard Care Homes as Non-Executive Chair of the Board in June 2016, and brought with him extensive experience in health and social care. His training at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst led to a 20 year career in the army. Following ten years working at Bupa, Robbie assumed a variety of senior management roles in Healthcall and Nestor Healthcare plc. Robbie was the CEO of Clinovia, a home healthcare company which contracted with Strategic Health Authorities, Primary Care Trusts and NHS acute hospitals, which was acquired by Bupa. Robbie then developed his non-executive career, chairing both the National Fostering Agency and City & County Healthcare for over 8 years. Robbie is currently the Non-Executive Chairman of a charity, called The Garden Classroom, and he is Non-Executive Director of the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. On winning the award, Robbie said; “This was a complete surprise and I was totally shocked but, of course, absolutely delighted to have received the award. I am passionate about delivering high quality care and so proud that I have helped to improve the health and wellbeing of thousands of men, women and children over the years.
