A Day in the Life of Senior Care Assistant Kayleigh Warsop!
Kayleigh Warsop has worked at the wonderful Riverdale Care Home in Chesterfield for 13 years, beginning her journey as a Care Assistant, then becoming a Senior Care Assistant. She also worked for some time as an Activities Coordinator and isn’t afraid of helping out in the kitchen or the laundry room! We couldn’t wait to find out what a typical day looks like for Kayleigh.
“Although every day is different, a typical day in my shoes may look a little bit like this…” said Kayleigh.
8:00 – I’m checking our digital care systems, reviewing all the charts... I decide what jobs need doing that day before starting my medication round!
10:00 – Normally, I’m updating care plans and completing our daily audits - I love engaging with residents regularly while I get these tasks done.
12:00 – I like helping the team and residents get ready for lunch, getting dinner out and serving it up… I’m then eating my own lunch, which is usually whatever delicious food our cooks have made!
14:00 – At this time, I’m back to lunch time medications. After, I love to enjoy an afternoon cup of tea with the residents.
16:00 – Typically, I am helping with teatime duties before completing the teatime medication round.
18:00 – From this time onwards, I’m catching up with any remaining jobs such as documentation and admin work. I then complete handover for the night team!
20:00 – Home time! I’m heading back home to rescue my mum from my two sons Alfie and Charlie and my Frenchie, Louie. I’m then spending quality time with them and my partner Adam – that’s if he’s back home from working away as a Marine Engineer!"
Kayleigh has enjoyed every aspect of the past 13 years working at Riverdale, she sees it as her ‘home from home’ and loves the fact that it really is like one big family, made up of the team members, the residents and the relatives.
“I love my job. It has also given me lots of opportunities to grow and develop; I’ve completed my Dementia Awareness training and the Reconnect training thanks to the wonderful Orchard Academy.”
Clinical Deputy Manager Brydy has worked with Kayleigh for nearly a year now and says that she always goes above and beyond. She said that Kayleigh is always happy and very supportive, making time for others even when she’s busy.
“If I was to describe Kayleigh in a sentence, I’d say that she is very positive, helpful, fun and committed.” added Brydy.
Thank you to Kayleigh for sharing her typical day with us – it shows us how varied, rewarding and interesting the role of Senior Care Assistant can be! Thank you to Brydy for her contributions to the blog too.
