The newly refurbished Langfield Care Home in Middleton, announces a positive Care Quality Commission (CQC) report, which records the Greater Manchester home as GOOD across all five categories of inspection.  Representatives from CQC undertook an unannounced visit to the home on 28 February 2017, and the report has rated the home good for being safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The home has recently seen an investment of over £150,000, which includes new flooring, LED lighting, a new dining area, furniture and addition of dementia-friendly spaces with tactile fixtures and fittings. The report was extremely positive across all areas, and was commended for a its good operational structure, with open channels for residents, relatives and staff to give their views and opinions and a system for monitoring care plans and the daily running of the home. Visiting care professionals had also given positive feedback.   Comments include; "When you retire, I recommend you come and stay here, it is a nice and comfortable place, with nice people. The staff will look after you well." "When you see scrambled eggs or omelette on the food trolley, you know it’s mine, the kitchen chef knows that I prefer my omelette for breakfast or at any time I fancy it." "I have no grumbles, it is nice living here, you can have a laugh and a joke with everyone." Brendan Gaffney, Registered Manager, commented; “We are pleased to see so many positive comments relating to the home and how we run it, and I’m very proud of all my staff here following this report. “We have a vibrant home, with plenty going on, and it’s how the residents and the staff like it. We will certainly continue to build on this.” The home has a varied activities programme, with a gardening and flower arranging club, a Gentleman’s club, arts and crafts and access to a minibus, to enable regular visits out and about. There is also a bar in one of the lounge areas, which is regularly used as a focal point, and plans for an indoor garden.  For updates on news from our homes, follow us on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
