Lisa Webster and Lisa Glynn have been jointly shortlisted for the ‘Activity Organiser’ award at the Yorkshire & Humberside Regional Great British Care Awards. The pair work at Cherry Trees nursing home in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. Through their delivery of activities, Lisa and Lisa have built a solid relationship between the home and the local community, with this year’s outdoor summer party being a particular hit with both relatives and guests. The Mayoress of Rotherham also attended the party, which saw a wide variety of entertainment on show, including balloon modelling and musical performances. Both Lisas have built a strong relationship with the Mayoress, enabling residents to have access to a community representative and liaison. They were also responsible for the set-up of a family support group within the home, where relatives meet on a regular basis to chat to each other in a relaxed environment. These long-standing relationships rank Lisa and Lisa amongst the top Activity Coordinators within the Orchard group. The availability, variety and regularity of activities presented were key factors in the home being awarded Orchard Care Homes’ Centre of Activity Excellence in 2016. “We are delighted that the positive work our Lisas do has been recognised and that they have been shortlisted as finalists,” comments Home Manager Sharron Whaley. ”They have worked together to implement a programme of activities that is both entertaining, and person-centred, as well as playing a key role in engaging residents with their local community, of which they were once vibrant members.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
