Eckington Court Care Home, in Eckington, Derbyshire, has pulled off an outstanding achievement by winning a top award at the Great British Care Home Awards.

The home submitted their entry for the East Midlands region and were announced winners of the prestigious ‘Care Home Team Award’ at a ceremony held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham earlier this week.

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of excellence across the care sector. The purpose of the awards is to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

To win the award, the Eckington Court team demonstrated a shared vision and agreed goals and that they were well-led by a leader whose role is known and accepted.  In addition, they showed excellent communication processes, recognising each member within the team, with a commitment to dignity and privacy for clients and respect for fellow team members.

Accepting the award on behalf of Orchard Care Homes, Trudy Godley, Home Manager at Eckington Court, quoted from their entry “We have had a tough year and pulled through leading with our hearts. The whole team has put themselves second and residents first. Eckington Court was one of the first homes to be hit by the COVID pandemic and we used innovative ways to keep our residents safe. The team has such a caring nature which has been a great comfort for families during end-of-life care.  It is wonderful to be recognised at these key industry awards.”
