Several Sunderland homes have had successful weeks hosting their annual Christmas fairs, which have brought many members of the local communities together to enjoy the festive season. Archers Park in Farringdon recently held its annual Christmas fair for the local community. A large number of friends and families arrived to browse the array of stalls, which were selling Christmas decorations, handmade gifts and raffle tickets. Santa Claus made an appearance in the home and delivered presents to all the children at the event. Heather Kerr, Head Chef at Archers Park and a contestant in the recent Orchard Care Homes Chef of the Year competition, provided everyone at the fair with a generous selection of food and beverages, including steak pies, cakes, mince pies and more. The home raised an impressive £562, which will go towards future activities and outings for the residents. In the countdown to Christmas Lansbury Court, Castletown, Sunderland, has been trotting out the Christmas fun, part of this being a visit from Monet the Shetland Pony, who visited the home to much attention and appreciation. Many residents have visited Oaktree Farm for a tasty three-course Christmas lunch, which was followed by a vibrant afternoon of bingo singing, whilst the home also welcomed over eighty members of the community to the Christmas fair. The cake stall, bottle stall and tombola were the most popular, with an impressive selection of refreshments, including mince pies and mulled wine. The home raised over £200 for the Resident Fund.  “Monet always brings a smile to the faces of our residents.” Said one member of staff, “He’s very gentle and seems to love a good pat. It was lovely to see him dressed in his Christmas antlers.”
