Middleton Park Lodge Raises a Glass to New Tavern This St Patrick’s Day

01 April 2026 News

There was plenty to celebrate at our Leeds-based home this St Patrick’s Day, as residents, families, and colleagues came together to mark the opening of an exciting new social space – The Middleton Tavern.

And what better way to open it than with live music, laughter, and a toast or two?

Designed to feel cosy, welcoming and full of character, the tavern is a place where residents can truly relax and enjoy time together. Whether it’s a quiet drink, a catch-up with loved ones or joining in with events, it’s already become a favourite spot for many.

Adding to the fun, specialist support worker Nicky has stepped into the role of head barman, serving everything from cocktails and mocktails to beers and shandies. And with big events like the World Cup coming up, there’s plenty more to look forward to.

The new space is a great example of the care team's approach to person-centred care: creating environments that support not just physical needs, but social connection, independence and overall wellbeing.

This is especially important within the home’s Specialist Reconnect: Dementia Care Community, where residents living with complex dementia are supported to stay active, involved and connected to everyday life. Familiar, social spaces like the tavern help residents feel comfortable and confident, making it easier to relax, interact and enjoy shared moments.

The St Patrick’s Day celebrations captured that perfectly, with residents and visitors enjoying live entertainment, refreshments and great company.

Paula, Activities Coordinator, said: ‘We wanted to create a space that feels relaxed and sociable… somewhere our residents can come together, enjoy each other’s company and make the most of special moments. Our St Patrick’s Day celebration felt like the perfect way to open the tavern, and seeing everyone come together like that showed exactly what it’s all about. It’s already become a real hub within the home, and we’re excited to host more events here.’

Creating meaningful moments like this is what life at Middleton Park Lodge is all about. With regular events, live entertainment and welcoming spaces, there’s always something bringing people together.
