Celebrating Joanne and Alma at Three Bridges Nursing Home
Across our amazing care homes are equally amazing team members who dedicate their time to providing the highest quality of care with smiles on their faces. Dedicated colleagues like Senior Care Assistants Alma and Joanne at Three Bridges Nursing Home in Warrington have built meaningful, fulfilling careers with us over many years, making a lasting difference in the lives of those they care for.

Alma has recently celebrated 20 years of working at the home. She stepped into the role of Care Assistant in October 2005 after moving to the UK from the Philippines where she worked as a nurse. Gradually, she worked her way up to Senior Care Assistant and has remained in this brilliant role ever since.
When asked what her favourite thing is about her job, she told us: “Making a difference! I love getting to know the residents and their families and ensuring I am doing all I can to support the residents.”
“One piece of advice I’d give to someone wanting to work in the care industry is to bring patience, empathy and a good sense of humour to the role – if you can do that, you’ll have a wonderful career.”
In her free time, Alma enjoys visiting her family back home in the Philippines or cooking up a storm in the kitchen – she loves cooking and is always trying out new recipes.

Meanwhile, Joanne joined the home in May 2000 and has celebrated an incredible 25 years of service this year! She started her career as Care Assistant and also worked her way up to Senior Care Assistant – and CHAPS.
When asked about her role before joining Three Bridges, Joanne said: “Working in care was my first and only job – it’s in my blood! My family work in care and I work alongside my sister too, right here at the home.”
Her favourite thing about working at the home is the atmosphere – everybody is friendly, caring and always smiling and laughing together. “It feels like going into someone’s home. We are a strong team and we all support each other.”
Being part of a team and working hard comes naturally to Joanne – she even used to represent her school in athletics!

To celebrate Alma and Joanne’s long service awards this year, the pair were celebrated with gifts, cards and a special feature in the home’s newsletter.
Home Manager, Whitney, confirmed Alma’s fantastic cooking skills: “When I joined Three Bridges in 2012, Alma was a Senior and was so welcoming and supportive. She would bring home cooked food in for all the team. Her noodles are amazing.”
We also asked Wendy, Home Administrator how she would summarise Joanne in one sentence. She replied: “Joanne is great in her role - thoughtful, sensitive and efficient with residents, relatives and all her colleagues.”
A huge congratulations to these two lovely ladies! If you’d like a career where you can progress, learn from others and thrive in a warm, supportive environment, then take a look at our careers page today and join us here at Orchard.
