Blondie the Pony was the guest of honour at Lansbury Court in Sunderland recently, spreading festive cheer amongst residents, relatives and staff. The miniature pony, owned by Darlington-based KL Pony Therapy, was dressed in her festive best, with reindeer antlers, Father Christmas socks, and hooves painted blue and gold. She proved a hit with both residents and their young family members who were given the opportunity to cuddle and stroke the minute mare. Activity Coordinator Alison Tribe commented, “The reactions to Blondie ranged from curiosity to excitement, with everyone enjoying meeting her, both old and young. Animal therapy has huge benefits to our residents, particularly those living with dementia, who we find become more sociable and experience a lift in mood.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
