A winning month for Team Orchard!

November has been a month of celebrations for the team at Orchard Care Homes, with multiple award wins across the company.

Orchard Care Homes have been named the 2023 winner of the prestigious LaingBuisson Award for Excellence in Large Residential Care. The annual ceremony, now in its 18th year, is held to celebrate businesses that set new standards of excellence in the public, private and third sectors.

As well as winning the category for Excellence in Large Residential Care, we were also delighted to be shortlisted in the Excellence in Training and Management Excellence categories. Hayden Knight, our CEO said, “I am overwhelmed with pride. This is such a phenomenal achievement for Orchard Care Homes. Truly proving the dedication and passion our colleagues have for the work they do. Receiving one of the most prestigious awards in the care sector solidifies what we have accomplished, in such a short amount of time and I couldn't be more excited about the future. Thank you to each and every one of our colleagues for getting us here!”

This award win is the latest in several successes for the Orchard Care Home team recently. Orchard were also nominated for 8 Great British Care Awards! 4 in the NE and Scotland region and 4 in the Yorkshire region.

Hannah Miller, regional winner of the Workforce Development Award at Great British Care Awards 2023

 Hannah Miller, Head of Dementia took home the regional Workforce Development award for her outstanding contribution to the workforce development across all 23 homes. Hannah has been instrumental in planning and delivering evidence-based training to all colleagues. Hannah has shown continuous enthusiasm and a real passion for developing and executing OCH’s training models.

Kim Brown, Clinical development and dementia lead, achieved a highly commended in the Social Care Nurse award. Both Hannah and Kim have made it through to the National Finals in March 2024- we are keeping our fingers crossed for them both!


Although Orchard didn't win in the NE and Scotland regional GBCA, we are honoured to have reached the final stages of such a prestigious award, and are proud of the Archers Court team for being finalists!

 Cheryl Baird, Director of Quality & Care, was a finalist at the Women Achieving Greatness in Social Care Awards! Nominated for the Woman in Tech award, Cheryl has been recognised for her innovative use of technology within our homes, resulting in outstanding results and improved outcomes for our residents.
