As part of their festive celebrations, residents and staff from Green Park, in Cheshire were paid a surprise visit recently by Mayor of Warrington, Councillor Les Morgan, who arrived to judge the home’s Christmas-themed fancy dress competition.   Staff and up to forty residents from the four units within the home: Balmoral, Cavendish, Devonshire and Windsor, took part in the competition. There was a variety of costumes on display, including Christmas Trees, Father Christmases and Snowmen. Some of the costumes were also inflatable, with a Father Christmas’ blow up belly getting the biggest laugh of the day. Led by Manager Jan O’ Halon, Councillor Morgan toured the home, meeting residents and staff, before naming Balmoral, the home’s nursing unit, as ‘best dressed.’ He presented the winning team, made up of residents, Care Assistants, Nurses and Domestic staff with a hamper of goodies, including chocolates and wine. Activity Coordinator Karen Jarvis commented, “No one except Jan knew that the Mayor was going to turn up, so it was a lovely surprise to have him come and judge the competition. As part of our Christmas preparations, we thought it would be a bit of fun to dress up, and the effort on show was impressive.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on Facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
