Residents Enjoy Seasonal Offerings of Local Garden Centres
There has been a burst of activity across many homes this winter, as residents have been preparing for Christmas. With trips to local garden centres being a favourite pastime among lots of residents, their seasonal offerings have been a particular hit.
One such trip was enjoyed by residents from Skellow Hall in Doncaster, including James, Veronica, Margaret, Joyce T, Joyce B, and Janet. Wentworth Garden Centre, which is the largest in Yorkshire, is set in the grounds of the historic Wentworth Woodhouse, a Grade I Listed Country House in South Yorkshire. Veronica commented, “Wentworth is such a pretty little village, reminiscent of England in years gone by. The garden centre is lovely all year but especially at Christmas with all of the decorations up.” For residents further north at Green Lodge, in Teesside, a group of residents enjoyed doing a spot of Christmas shopping at Stockton Garden Centre, with Robert and Sylvia posing for photos with the reindeer display. Over in Merseyside meanwhile, Lymewood Court residents Edith and Anne took a trip to Trebaron Garden Centre, together with Activity Coordinator Louise and Care Assistant Mark. The group spent the afternoon admiring the displays and picking up Christmas gifts, and even bumped into the man in red himself, Father Christmas. Green Lodge Activity Coordinator Emma Kemp said, “Visiting the garden centre at Christmas is guaranteed to get everyone in the festive mood. From the smell of mince pies and pine, to the decorative displays, it is hard not to recall fond memories of past Christmases, which often leads to discussions of different Christmas traditions.” To keep up to date with behind-the-scenes stories from the Orchard Care Homes Group, follow us on facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
