Harry and Audrey: The sibling bond that never breaks

17 April 2025 News

Harry and Audrey grew up in Litherland, Merseyside with their two other siblings Brenda and Pauline, and both now reside at Thornton Hall & Lodge Care Home in Crosby. To celebrate Sibling’s Day earlier this month, we spoke to the duo about their special bond and why they’re excited to be living together again at our Liverpool care home.

Audrey is the eldest sibling and remembers that when Harry was born, her mum asked her to fetch the midwife for her – little did she know, she was about to meet her friend for life. When Harry and Audrey think back on their childhood, they say they never argued and they grew up very close to their aunts and uncles.

“Aude always looked after everyone, we always knew we could talk to her about anything” added Harry.

Even now, the happy siblings have plenty to talk about. They sit together every lunch and teatime and enjoy taking part in activities together. Harry said: “We’ve always been close, but now we have more of an opportunity to spend quality time together.” The Thornton Hall team ensure that the pair always have activities planned to join in on together and strive to make their time together extra special.

Audrey told us - “We are both sociable people and have lots of friends here at Thornton. We’ve known one of whom, Doreen, for all of our lives! She even used to babysit Harry sometimes when we were younger.”

Although Brenda recently passed away, sister Pauline still comes in often to visit and brings them sweet treats and clothes as and when they request them! Harry, Audrey and Pauline have got through their recent tough times together with the support of the Thornton Hall and Lodge team.

Thanks to the Activities team, Harry and Audrey always have amazing things to do together, and with their friends. For Sibling’s Day, they will be taking a trip to the pub together for a drink and a natter. The Activities team described the siblings’ bond as one which is filled with love and happiness.
