Gerry Tots at Green Park Care Home

Green Park Care Home in Warrington has introduced a new initiative by running its own parent and toddler group, Gerry Tots.

The home offers a weekly service for the local area every Tuesday at 10am, this has been a great success so far, parents and childminders come in and engage with residents whilst their children play in a safe and relaxing environment.

Staff from the home have introduced this initiative in an effort to bring all generations together through structured activities which allow the group to play, talk and have an overall good time. Residents have been playing and talking with the children and have had a great time.

Joe Ward, activity manager at Green Park, said: “It’s always been a passion of mine to bring together groups of people old and young, and although we do have nursery and school visits to the home, this is something more and something constant. We aim to provide a warm and relaxing environment in which our residents can enjoy a healthy and enriching life.”

The sessions allow children to have experiences with older people, especially those living with dementia and residents can’t wait for the children’s next visit.
