Residents at Eckington Court in Derbyshire, have been getting their dancing shoes on at a fortnightly ‘old-time disco’ held in the home, together with Service Users from nearby Newfields Learning & Resource Centre.  Home Manager Trudy Godley made contact with the centre earlier this year, which specialises in providing care for young adults living with disabilities. After being invited into the home to spend time with residents, the young patrons now visit residents every two weeks for an afternoon of music and dancing, with one Service User, Richard, acting as disc jockey. Richard’s disco has seen the mixed group enjoying a wide variety of both classic and contemporary music, with the young guests even teaching residents the dance moves to the millennium smash hit pop song, ‘Cha Cha Slide’. Home Manager Trudy Godley said, “We are delighted to have established such a positive relationship with Newfields, which forms part of our wider links to the community. “The disco is a great opportunity for residents to reminisce through music, try something new, and forge positive bonds with the young people who attend the centre.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
