Doing the Jitterbug at Eckington Court
Residents and staff from Eckington Court, Derbyshire, jived and jitterbugged the afternoon away during a 1950s tea dance at the home. The team dressed in polka-dot pinnies, retro glasses and bobbed wigs to set the scene for residents and bring the theme to life. Some of the residents chose to dress for the occasion too and one lady looked fantastic in her sequin shawl, spotty headband and jewellery. Spam sandwiches, a popular snack during the 1950s, were served for lunch and live entertainment brought much laughter and dancing. With memories of attending tea dances and a flair for footwork, the residents embraced the theme and enjoyed the music.
