Cherry Trees Nursing Home in South Yorkshire opened its doors to the public for their autumn celebration recently, complete with Harvest Festival-themed stalls, and a performance by local entertainer Alex John. The most impressive performance of the day however, was by resident Jackie, who showed off her vocal prowess on the microphone. Jackie once worked as a club singer, under her stage name ‘Penny Lane’. She said, “I was lucky enough to be able to forge a career out of my passion, and I will still take any opportunity to perform. It was a lovely afternoon; I enjoy all of the singers who come to the home.” Staff at the home, which was rated OUTSTANDING for care by the Care Quality Commission earlier this year, set up Harvest Festival-themed stalls, as well as stalls selling bric-a-brac, jewellery, and homemade cakes. Activity Coordinator Lisa Webster said, “We have a great relationship with the local community and relish the opportunity to invite people to the home and join in the fun. The Autumn celebration was a huge success with all the money raised going to the resident’s fund.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
