A Rastrick & Rural Outing

Visits from pet therapy companies have many benefits for our residents, such as proving comfort and improving social interaction. With these benefits in mind, staff from Rastrick Hall & Grange in Brighouse arranged a trip for residents to Cannon Hall Farm in Barnsley. Winner of many tourism and innovation awards and the largest farm attraction in the UK, there were plenty of animals to see and the group were lucky enough to come across some newborn piglets on the farmyard. The group also paid a visit to the highland cows in the milking parlour. The ferret race, in which ferrets dashed through clear pipes to a finish line, was another highlight of the day. A staff member commented, “All of the residents picked a ferret to cheer on and spectating was great fun”.
