Edna with the Mayor and Mayoress. Residents at Cherry Trees Care Home in Rotherham have recently been celebrating a monumental birthday.

Edna, a resident at Cherry Trees for the past six years, recently celebrated her 100th birthday! To mark this exceptional occasion, Edna was joined by friends, family, fellow residents in the home and even a visit from the Mayor of Rotherham, Alan Buckley.

The home's staff all chipped in by making balloon features as well as other decorations, to help put on a party as special as the occasion!

The highlight of the birthday girl’s day was certainly her beautiful card from the queen!

When asked, what Edna’s secret was to her fantastic achievement, she replied with: “A good life, my family and all of you (the staff) looking after me so well.”

“Everybody that attended had a truly fantastic time, we received some wonderful feedback and it was clear to see from the smiles on everyone's faces that everybody was having a great time”, commented Sharron Whaley, Care Home Manager at Cherry Trees.
