With the autumn weather approaching, residents and staff from Green Lodge in Teesside enjoyed an afternoon of conker collecting. Activity Coordinator Emma and Care Assistant Ben, alongside residents Edna, Robert and Sylvia took advantage of the early autumn sunshine and went for a walk around the local area, taking in their surroundings and enjoying the recent change of season. The group collected lots of conkers, as well as sycamore tree leaves at different stages of changing colour, which they took back to the home. Robert said, “I love autumn because of all the changing colours, we have lots of different trees around us.” Sylvia added, “The crop of conkers was bountiful, we couldn’t believe how many there were so early in the season.” Edna also commented, “We didn’t have enough hands to carry them all!” Along their journey, the group also happened upon a tree decorated with small, ornamental doors, “A fairy house” as Ben put it. Emma, who organised the trip, said, “What a lovely day out we all had. It is such a beautiful area that we live in and we are fortunate to be able to get out regularly to enjoy it.” To keep up to date with news from the home, find us on Facebook: facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
