The school children visited the home as they are currently doing a project about World War II, the residents were very excited to welcome them into the home and meet them. Once the children arrived they sang songs from the war to our residents, they sang a dozen songs and everyone’s favourite was “We’ll meet again.”

The children and residents then had some time to talk, residents told stories to the group about the war and shared memories with them. Vera really enjoyed the visit and told the staff after, “I loved to see the children, it was so nice for the children to understand our past.”

The school staff were very impressed with how well the residents and children got along and how beneficial this visit was for both parties, they have proposed that the two groups work closely together going forward and arrange regular visits to see each other which the staff at our home were very happy about.
