Penwortham Grange and Lodge Care Home hosts Pop-Up Gift Wrapping Event for Cancer Research UK!
Christmas is the season of giving and gifting, so when the Penwortham team began brainstorming fundraising ideas, the idea of a gift wrapping event seemed like the perfect way to raise funds for an important cause and give back to the local community. We couldn’t wait to hear more about it!
Cancer Research UK, a leading UK charity which is doing everything possible to beat cancer, is Orchard’s chosen charity for the next twelve months. Our homes have been crafting ideas already as to how they will raise money for the amazing charity in the coming months.
Activity Coordinators Jayne and Lucy at Penwortham Grange and Lodge Care Home are always out and about in the community building relationships and they wanted to plan something which would give back to others while asking for only a small donation in return.
“Christmas is a busy time for everyone and we know that relatives and people in the local community have enough on their plates without worrying about the tedious task of wrapping presents. We chose to plan these events over various dates in December so that we can take away the stress of wrapping and also raise funds for charity!” said Jayne.
At our amazing Preston care home, the reception area was transformed into a homely and festive Santa’s grotto and Lucy and Jayne had their gift wrap and labels at the ready. It was a great opportunity to kick-off fundraising for our chosen charity and spread some festive cheer. Since some people weren’t available on the first date, another date was swiftly put in the diary to repeat the event.
Lucy told us: “I’m not the best at wrapping, but I find it enjoyable and relaxing! Honestly, it felt really magical to be taking the pressures away from other people this Christmastime. I love any excuse to spread Christmas joy!”
The team at Penwortham have had a busy December all round, from Christmas dinners at the local church to performances from nearby schools. We can’t wait to see what they get up to in the New Year, but for now, we wish them a very Merry Christmas.
