Paul’s Fundraising Run At Eaton Court

25 September 2020 News

Paul Windley has witnessed first-hand the care and dedication provided by staff at Eaton Court Care Home in Grimsby.

Paul’s partner Michelle had a cardiac arrest last July and suffered serious brain damage as a result. After spending some time at a neuro-rehab unit, she moved to Eaton Court in February 2020.

Paul has been more than appreciative to the staff for all of their hard work and dedication,” the staff have been nothing less than brilliant during what has obviously been a very difficult time. They have been patient with our telephone calls and kindly set up video calls so that we could talk to Michelle and hopefully reassure her that she's always in our thoughts,” he said.

Paul decided that he wanted to thank the staff at Eaton Court and give back in a way that would be of some benefit to them. As he took up running two years ago, he thought he would raise money for the homes Christmas party by running his first half marathon.

He wanted Eaton Court to be where he completed the run so the staff set up a finish line and were stood in the car park cheering him on through the last stretch. Banners were stuck around the car park and both staff and residents stood around waving flags much to Paul’s delight.

Paul has more than doubled his fundraising goal of £500 and has raised a fantastic total of £1,090. Adding to this Orchard will be matching Paul’s total so his overall amount raised will be a whopping £2,180!
