The artists proposed that residents take to exploring freehand painting on canvases and gave them a selection of pictures to choose from.

Residents were spoilt for choice as they looked through the picture selection and all chose their own picture to copy. This sparked up a conversation about colours amongst the residents and artists and before they knew it they were involved in an in-depth conversation about what colour meant to each of them.

Residents tried very hard on their painting and with the help of the artists managed to create some brilliant pieces, the group all agreed that this had been the perfect way for them to spend their afternoon. Rita M has always been a huge fan of painting and drawing so was sad to see the session come to an end, “this was such a special time for me,” she told staff.
