On Friday 16th June, Care Homes up and down the country will be hosting National Care Home Open Day and embracing this year’s theme of ‘Friendship’ by inviting along friends, families and members of the local community. Each home has organised a variety of activities including entertainers, arts and crafts sessions, visits from local schools and many more. Several homes will also be hosting their local Mayor who will be meeting and greeting visitors to the home. Comments Tracey Tomlinson, Commercial Director at Orchard Care Homes; “National Care Home Open Day is an opportunity for our homes to celebrate their links with the local community and a way of forging longer-lasting relationships, and it works. “We have been taking part for many years, with many positive benefits, which includes the staff taking pride in their roles, and the residents enjoying the interaction with new and familiar faces. It’s a date that we look forward to, and that we celebrate across all of our homes.” National Care Home Open Day is a UK-wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities. Thousands of care homes across the UK take part each year, welcoming the public into the home and uniting the community.
