New Appointments to the Board of Directors

Two new appointments have been made to the Board of Directors at Orchard Care Homes, with the arrival of experienced professional and healthcare directors, Robbie Burns and Dr Tony Felton. Robbie Burns joins as the new Non-Executive Chair of the Board, and brings with him approximately thirty years of health and social care experience. Trained at Sandhurst and following a career in the army, Robbie spent ten years at Bupa, before taking senior management roles at Healthcall and Nestor Healthcare. Robbie was the CEO of Clinovia, a home healthcare company, which was acquired by Bupa, and supported the Strategic Health Authorities, Primary Care Trusts and NHS Foundation hospitals. Robbie is currently Non – Executive Chair of the National Fostering Agency, a social enterprise called The Garden Classroom, and he is Non-Executive Director of the Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. Robbie says of his appointment; “I am delighted to join Orchard Care Homes as the Chair of the Board, particularly at a time when the organisation is seeing positive growth in a challenging wider market. “I am passionate about delivering high quality care and look forward to working with the management team to create new and innovative services for the residents in our homes.  There is a need to work ever closer with Local Authorities, commissioners and local clinical leads, to help to transform healthcare for the elderly, and I hope to drive this forward during my time with the company.” Dr Tony Felton is a Non-Executive Director whose background lies in General Practice. Combined with a strong commercial background, Dr Tony has extensive experience in the healthcare and life sciences sectors, acting as a management consultant and in senior executive roles that include Medical Director for BUPA Home Healthcare. Dr Tony comments; “My interests are in supporting and further developing the good initiatives that Orchard Care Homes has implemented in its homes. I am committed to quality of care and to tapping into digital innovation around healthcare systems, which will be a large part of the way in which elderly care will develop over the next few years.” Paul Mancey, Chief Executive, says; “We are delighted that we are working with a complete Board, focusing on the future of quality care and their delivery by Orchard Care Homes.
