The ladies at the home often enjoy knitting as it gives them the chance to socialise and relax. Seniors often experience difficulty with hand to eye coordination so activities such as knitting can have many positive effects if done regularly as they encourage the brain and hands to work together.

It also reminds them of their younger days, the ladies all recalled positive memories from their youth as they knitted. Iris told everyone, “when my children were younger and outgrew jumpers, I used to unwind wool and knit some more as we did not have a lot of money in those days.”

Nora really enjoys knitting and spending time with the others, she said “I just love knitting, I have always made lots of woollies for my son.”
