Halloween festivities at Green Park Care Home
Green Park Care Home in Warrington has been enjoying the spirit of Halloween with a fun-filled week of themed games, fundraising, tasty food and spooky celebrations.
Green Park residents in Great Sankey rallied together with pumpkins, dressing up, sweets and items to raffle off to the family and friends of Green Park, in aid of the resident’s fundraising pot.
During the scheduled activities, residents got the chance to compete against one another during their pumpkin carving competition to create the scariest design and later huddled together to make a delicious pumpkin pie using the leftovers. The creations were displayed throughout the home and in common areas for everyone to see and appreciate.
Throughout the home and within the different care units, some residents also took part in a witches hat drawing competition and Ivy Wilson was crowned the winner with the scariest design. “I really loved getting messy carving my pumpkin and dressing up just like we used to as children when we would go trick or treating” she said.
Activities Coordinator, Lisa Brakewell, reflected on the events saying, “Seeing the residents come together and get creative was lovely. Some activities even brought back memories of having trick or treaters at their doors and promoted several conversations where they enjoyed reminiscing about the past. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those who donated to our Autumn Halloween tombola and look forward to hosting more fundraising days, to support all the residents in our care very soon.”
