There are exciting times ahead for residents at Three Bridges in Warrington, as a number of improvements are made at the home, enhancing both the indoor and outdoor facilities, with a particular focus on the activity provision. Following on from the opening of the Demenita+ Unit at sister Warrington home, Green Park, a refurbishment project at Three Bridges will see a number of bedrooms updated and given a fresh new look, whilst the relocation of the activity room will give residents additional space to take part in the programme of vibrant and hands-on activities on offer. The refurbishment will also see the dining room expanded to enhance the mealtime experience, as well as the installation of a new sensory garden, and reminiscence café, which will enhance the specialist dementia provision in the home. Residents have also been given regular access to a purpose-built minibus, which better connects them with the local area. A recent trip saw one group visit Warrington’s Walton Gardens. Residents enjoyed a walk round the grounds, including taking in the Grade II listed building Walton Hall, and the small zoo, which houses a range of animals, including alpacas, goats, rabbits and a number of different bird breeds.    The group finished off the day with a stroll into town, sparking a discussion on how Warrington has changed over the last decade. Activity Coordinator Melissa Tinsley commented, “Everyone is excited about the changes to come in the home, in particular having access to the minibus, as this means that a much bigger group can now go together, making it more of a social occasion.” Home Manager Valerie Marston commented, “We are certainly going through a positive period of change at the home, and residents are already taking advantage of this. “When the next phase is complete, the new sensory garden will offer a vibrant and stimulating place for those living with dementia, as well as residents with a variety of sensory impairments, while the reminiscence café will offer a quiet, social place for residents and guests to enjoy year-round.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on Facebook and YouTube.
