From Care Assistant to Dual-Site Registered Home Manager at Riverdale Care Home
Orchard Care Homes is delighted to announce Trudy Godley's appointment as Dual-Site Registered Manager. Trudy will now serve as the Registered Manager for both Eckington Court and Riverdale Care Home, based in Derbyshire.
Embarking on a career in care is often inspired by personal experiences and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. For Trudy, the journey into the world of caregiving began with a childhood dream of becoming a nurse.
"I always wanted to be a nurse, but didn't take school very seriously in the last couple of years, so I had to return to college prior to nurse training. After working as a care assistant at the age of 16, I found that I really enjoyed being around different people and discovering their lives and interests," shares Trudy.
Having witnessed her mother's health struggles throughout childhood, Trudy believes that this experience served as a profound inspiration. The desire to care for and nurse individuals during their most vulnerable moments became a calling, which she embraces with compassion and dedication.
Drawing from a wealth of experience working in care, Trudy has dedicated the past eight years to Eckington Court Nursing Home, a period marked by significant personal and professional growth within Orchard Care Homes.
Trudy tells us she’s thrilled to have recently taken on the role of Dual Registered Home Manager, and overseeing our latest Reconnect specialist dementia community at Riverdale. Having cared for individuals living with dementia, she understands the challenges they face and the impact dementia can have.
‘The prospect of creating a space that not only improves the quality of life for those living with dementia but also restores a sense of purpose is genuinely inspiring. Being part of the team developing the Reconnect community at Riverdale presents an opportunity to witness positive changes and contribute to the growth of a brand-new community. With a strong and established team at Eckington, I can dedicate time to nurturing the Reconnect community, fostering its development and empowering the staff to implement Orchard’s dementia promise training effectively’.
Driven by a genuine passion for helping others and inspired by personal experiences, Trudy stands ready to make a lasting impact on the lives of those she cares for, within the transformative space of the Reconnect community at Riverdale.
Looking ahead, Trudy’s envisions ‘a team that not only settles into their roles but thrives, creating robust and compassionate environments for residents’.
We can’t wait to see Trudy thrive in her new position.
