Eckington Court in Derbyshire, has received a positive Care Quality Commission (CQC) report, which records the home as overall GOOD. Representatives from CQC undertook an unannounced visit to the home on 5 June 2018, and the report has rated the home good across all five key areas for being safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led. The home provides residential and nursing care for up to 50 older people, some of whom are living with dementia. The report highlighted the progress the home has made since its last inspection, in particular the use of electronic medication administration records (EMAR), and the positive mealtime experience. Ratings are given based on observations of the home by the unannounced CQC team, and on conversations with staff, residents and their relatives. The report is part of CQC's programme of inspections. Comments include; "My relative is treated as a person. The staff's caring attitude to my relative and everyone else, relieves me of any worries I might have had about [person] being in care." – Relative "The food is absolutely smashing." – Relative "I feel supported, there is always someone to talk to. We are close knit, like a family really." – Staff member "I had an induction when I started in my role and completed a lot of training courses. I am trained in equality and diversity, hand-washing, safeguarding, whistleblowing, infection control and many others." – Staff member Home Manager Trudy Godley commented; “We are ecstatic with the results of the report, which is the result of a group effort to constantly be improving, and making the home a place we would all be happy to live in. To hear the overwhelmingly positive feedback from residents, relatives and staff is a real boost, and we will definitely be celebrating in our new garden and making the most of this lovely weather, but this doesn’t mean we will become complacent. We have lots more exciting things planned on the horizon” Tracey Tomlinson, Group Head of Sales and Marketing at Orchard Care Homes, commented “This is a fantastic result for the whole team at Eckington Court, who, led by Trudy, have done exceptionally well and should be hugely proud.” “It is clear from the abundance of positive feedback from both relatives and residents in the report, that the team is highly regarded, and a home at the heart of its community. The home has seen significant investment recently, including an upgrade to the outdoor spaces, with a newly landscaped garden, and it is great to hear that residents are benefitting from this.” The home has a diverse and busy activity programme, with regular events in the home.
