Chatsworth Lodge Care Home has a special visitor!
The entire home was delighted to welcome Preston Bird, a local singer and musician to their Christmas party on the 22nd of December.

Preston, has set himself a challenge to raise money for Dementia UK in memory of his Grandparent. He embarked on a 12 day journey, touring 12 different care homes in the area, to share his beautiful voice with. He said ‘Early on in 2023, we unfortunately lost my grandma and I wasn’t able to sing those songs for her. So now I have decided to share the joy of my singing with as many care home residents as possible, over a 12 day period’.

Preston came armed with a variety of songs to please all. He sang a few classic Bublé songs, some Frank Sinatra, along with a carol or six. His Dad, Andy, also got up to sing a rendition of ‘Elvis’s suspicious minds’ under some coaxing from Preston. Residents, Sylvia, said ‘Mac the knife’ was one of her friends favourite songs- she knew nearly all the words. Robert, said it was lovely, and that Frank Sinatra, was one of his favourite singers.

Zenka, Home Deputy said ‘We really enjoyed listening to Preston. We danced in our armchairs and sang along. It was a brilliant afternoon!’
The night concluded with a tipple or two of Bailey’s, lager, wine, and tea, coffee, and cordial, with homemade snacks.

Preston has raised £2516 for Dementia UK so far! If you would like to donate to his admirable cause you can do so below:
