Ashlea Mews Care Home Visit Local Church for Communion
Staff and residents from South Shields Care Home, Ashlea Mews, headed to St Michaels and Angels Church for communion.
Vera and Ellen, two of the residents from the home joined staff for this visit and were looking forward to meeting new people. Once they arrived at the church they took part in the coffee morning that was taking place, they enjoyed a hot drink whilst chatting away to all the locals.
Following this they went into the church for communion, they both agreed that they had enjoyed this very much and would love to experience it again. Once the communion was over the ladies stopped off for another chat with the locals before heading back to the home. Ellen told the staff, “it was a lovely service and the people were really nice, I can’t wait to see them again.”
The visit was very successful as not only did Vera and Ellen have a great time but a member of the church has now decided to visit the home fortnightly for residents who aren’t able to leave the home. Staff will also be taking some of the other residents to the church on a regular basis and both Vera and Ellen can’t wait.
