Art Gallery at Green Park

The residents' new art galleryArt is a fantastic way of allowing people to freely express themselves and stimulate the mind. So residents at Green Park Care Home were delighted to be given the chance to work with a local artist, who helped to teach them all about watercolours.

Local artist, Chris Beesley, has been holding watercolour painting sessions at the home for the past few months, allowing residents to create some beautiful pieces of artwork.

During the first session, participants were unsure if they would be able to do it and were nervous about using the watercolours. However, once they approached it with an open mind, the results were fantastic as they painted some beautiful pictures. This gave everyone a huge boost in confidence, ready for the next sessions.

Art is a great way of expressing yourself especially for our residents, they have a picture to follow but whatever they put on that canvas is their creation and they are super proud of it“, commented Joe Ward, Activity Co-Ordinator at Green Park.

“We are really proud of our resident’s achievements, so we have decided to create our very own art gallery in our home. It’s situated on our main staircase so that everyone can see it“, added Joe.

Green Park plan on continuing their work with Chris and aim to display even more artwork, throughout the rest of the home.
