Loxley Court care home in Sheffield has spent the last three months under renovation and has now openeda new 14-bed unit, in addition to refreshing many additional areas of the home. Specialising in nursing care, including dementia nursing, the 71-bed home was taken over at the end of last year by Orchard Care Homes and has seen an investment worth over £350,000, which includes new carpets and furniture, intelligent motion-sensor lighting, and a brand new ward. Key elements include: Opening of a brand new unit, specially designed to support the heightened needs of those with behaviour that challenges Over 4.5 miles of new copper piping throughout the building New reception area, with new carpets, furniture and visitor facilities A refurbished lift An additional focus has been the introduction of the Orchard Care Homes dementia strategy, which aims to create engaging environments and living spaces for residents living with dementia, focusing on tactile wall displays and reminiscence prompts such as pictures and memorabilia. Jane Bennett, Home Manager says; “We are delighted with the refreshed new home, we feel like it has given us a new burst of energy. We received some really positive feedback during the recent open day, particularly for the dementia-friendly spaces, which allow our residents to interact in a new way. “We are seeing an increased demand for more specialist care, and our new unit, with dedicated and specialist-trained staff, is equipped with the very latest facilities and is now ready to welcome residents.”
