National Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors to their local communities. Thousands of care homes across the UK take part each year, creating lasting links and developing friendships across different generations. A huge number of our homes took part, including two of our homes in Merseyside. Lymewood Court raised just under £300 for activities at the home from their summer fayre and Thornton Hall & Lodge celebrated with families. Chorley Lodge in Lancashire held a sport-themed day with quizzes and a home in the same region, Fleetwood Hall, also welcomed the local community to their day. Three homes in Yorkshire also took part. Residents from The Sycamores and York House participated in arts and crafts activities, and Norton Lees Hall & Lodge residents enjoyed musical entertainment. Residents from Ashlea Mews in South Shields enjoyed baking and entertainment. Tracey Tomlinson, Director of Customer Experience for Orchard Care Homes, said; “We were delighted to see so many of our homes take part in National Care Home Open Day, a time to celebrate with our residents and enjoy ourselves. It was a pleasure to visit some of the homes, all which were filled with a positive atmosphere and activity.” Pictured in the photo is Christie Dean, Home Manager of Chorley Lodge, and Jean, a resident at the home.
