Learning Lunches Launch at the Support Centre

09 July 2018 News

A new initiative of ‘learning lunches’ has launched at the Orchard Care Homes Harrogate Support Centre, offering colleagues an opportunity to learn - or share - a new skill, over their lunch break, with small classes delivered in bitesize chunks. The enterprise was the idea of James Lyner, Orchard Care Homes’ Transactional Finance Manager, who has launched similar schemes in the past, at previous companies. The pilot session, entitled ‘Excel Tips’, saw colleagues getting a taste of Microsoft Excel and its various uses, presented by Finance Business Partner, Emma Swarbrick. Comments James, “This is an opportunity for those who have a particular skill or talent, to share this with colleagues in a relaxed and informal setting, helping to build confidence and encourage teambuilding. “We have a varied wealth of talent across the Support Centre, with skills ranging from bookkeeping, to foreign languages, and so we are inviting suggestions on other topics from anyone who wants to take part. “The first learning lunch was a resounding success, with attendees not only learning something, but also enjoying themselves, and we are hoping this will set the benchmark for future lunches.” To keep up to date with news from Orchard Care Homes, follow us on Facebook and YouTube.
