With the Royal Ascot races upon us, our homes have been using the event to organise a variety of activities. Residents at Lofthouse Grange & Lodge in Leeds got creative recently, painting and designing their own fascinators and hats on canvases. The group used a variety of materials, including watercolour paints, coloured wool and glitter to portray their perfect hats. Pictured on the left. A similar activity was happening at Chorley Lodge in Lancashire, where the residents have been modelling their hand made hats, which they decorated with tissue-paper flowers. Residents at Rastrick Hall & Grange in Brighouse, modelled their own impressive fascinators, with one resident creating a beautiful white netted fascinator decorated with glitter and daisies. Chantelle Lee, Senior Carer at Rastrick Hall & Grange said “I helped with the activities and all the residents really enjoyed the arts and crafts sessions. Making the hats was a great idea, the ladies love wearing them around the home, and they used a lot of glitter! We can’t wait for the races to start.” Royal Ascot was founded by Queen Anne and dates back to 1711. The Royal Ascot races takes place during the summer months and are usually attended by the Queen and other members of the Royal Family. Over 300,000 people make the annual visit to Berkshire during Royal Ascot week, making this Europe’s best-attended race meeting.  For more updates on news in our homes, follow us on Facebook here: https://www.facebook.com/orchardcarehome/
