Gung-ho charity challenge
From the ‘born slippy’ to the ‘labyrinth maze’, ten inflatable obstacles were attacked with a gung-ho spirit at Temple Newsam in May, as Orchard Care Homes took on the 5K challenge to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. And raise money they did, with the help of 70 employees, friends, families and sponsors, such as Care Shop, over £7,500 was noted at the last count, placing them in the top 1% of JustGiving fundraisers in May. “What a race, we had such great fun”, said one of the participants. “The obstacles were brilliant and it feels very rewarding to know we have raised so much money, that can now be added to the fight against dementia.” It was so successful, encouraging team-building and reaching members of staff from right across the company, that the group is looking to make a fundraising challenge such as this an annual event.
