Green Lodge Postcards of Kindness

23 September 2019 News

postcards.jpgGreen Lodge care home in Billingham have recently had the honour of receiving some postcards from strangers as an act of kindness and they could not be more grateful.

Residents were overjoyed to receive these cards and thoroughly enjoyed reading about other days. The cards contained messages about holiday’s people had been on, interesting things they have recently discovered and how they have spent their summer.

This has inspired Green Lodge to send out some cards of their own, the staff at the home have come across a young boy called Rhys who is fighting a long term skin condition, Rhys’s birthday is approaching and his mum has put a plea on Facebook for everyone to send him cards to cheer him up. Our residents have decided to get involved with this and are working on a card to send to Rhys.

The home is also planning to send over postcards to residents in other care homes, this is a way for residents to connect and for them to share stories and reminisce about their younger days. Emma the Activities Coordinator at the home said: “it’s great to see the residents engaging and looking forward to an activity.”
