A brand new gardening club at Cherry Trees in Rotherham, is growing in popularity, as green-fingered residents have taken to brightening up the home’s large, enclosed garden ready for summer. So far, the club has four members, Tony, Marjory, Margaret, and Renee, who have been hard at work preparing a range of flower pots with a selection of colourful flowers, including foxgloves and hydrangeas. The garden is a central focus of the home, and summer parties are always well attended by members of the local community. Activity Coordinator Lisa Webster commented, “The gardening club is a great opportunity to get outside and engage in something creative, and the garden is such a beautiful but of space. “The club also forms part of our ‘Project Busy’ initiative, whereby residents who enjoy, and wish to, participate in one or more of the home’s day to day house-hold activities, are encouraged to do so in the same way as they did at home. This is particularly beneficial for those living with dementia, offering a sense of routine and purpose.” Resident Marjory commented, “We chose some beautiful flowers to plant, and we’re all looking forward to seeing the garden full of colour, and showing this off to our guests, it looks like we’re going to have a lovely summer.” To keep up to date with news from the home, follow us on Facebook and YouTube
